Board Concerned About Capital Campaign

Recession concerns and decreased charitable giving has the board of Children’s Musical Theatre worried about CMT’s first-ever capital campaign fundraising effort. “This wonderful opportunity for CMT has risen during a difficult economic time,” said Denis Doe, CMT Treasurer and Capital Campaign Committee Chairman. “It may take us a little longer to reach our goal, but the prospect of acquiring this building for only $43 a square foot is something we don’t want to lose.”

The 11,200 square foot building, located at Wyandotte and Hensley, has ample space for CMT to grow into the future. This facility will have offices, a set construction workshop, 3 rehearsal
spaces, costume shop, dressing rooms and a loading dock. By consolidating office, storage, and practice spaces into one building, CMT can offer more classes and programs throughout the year.

How does the $480,000 Capital Campaign goal break down? $280,000 for building purchase, remodeling, furniture and operational expenses; $200,000 to secure the future by adding to CMT’s endowment fund. This breaks down to $43 per square foot—a bargain for this community and its children.

Please keep the CMT Capital Campaign at the top of your charitable giving priorities over the coming year. Send your tax deductible donations with “Capital Campaign” indicated on the memo line of your check. Thank You!

A Wicked Challenge for Alumni

Hey, CMT alumni!! You know better than anyone, the benefits of participating in a CMT show! And you can truly appreciate the importance of CMT having its own building… think of the workshops CMT could offer year round! ...and what if CMT could have two productions a year?? For all of you that have worked on sets and scenery, think of a big workshop that could be used year round! And how great would it be to have a practice area that was equal to the size of the stage at the Community Center? You could practice with the set pieces (rather than tape marks on the floor) for more than a week!!
Tracye Caughell has a challenge for you...she has 44 tickets to one of her favorite musicals, Wicked, when it comes to Tulsa next summer. She will line up transportation for the group and is giving those tickets to 44 alumni who raise money for 20 square feet of CMT’s new building. Twenty square feet? Each square foot of the new building will cost $43.00. $43/ft2. Raise $43 from 20 people and you’ll be heading to Tulsa for Wicked. Or $86 for 10 people. Or $21.50 from 40 people. You do the math...and raise the money...and have a great time in Tulsa seeing Wicked with the CMT group!

Setting the Stage for Tomorrow

SETTING THE STAGE FOR TOMORROW
Children’s Musical Theatre has a great opportunity that I want to share with you. An 11,200 square foot building is available near downtown Bartlesville that would be a perfect home for CMT! For some time, we have wanted to have a place of our own that would provide areas for office, practice, storage, and set construction. Such a building is now available: storage/construction area with dock access, a large rehearsal space equal to the Community Center’s stage, and a heated/air conditioned portion for offices and rehearsal rooms. With just a little remodeling, it quickly becomes our home. It’s a perfect fit.
Why is this important to us? Right now we rent office space, storage space, and have auditions and rehearsals in various locations that hopefully have rooms available when we need them. A home base would allow us to schedule events when it’s best for students, work on sets/costumes well before productions, and most importantly, add new programs in addition to our main summer production.
Our campaign is for purchasing the building, renovating the needed areas, helping with some operational expenses, and securing the future by adding to our endowment fund.
Our $480,000 goal equates to only $43.00 per square foot. That’s a great bargain in today’s market. I am asking you to consider being part of this effort to bring musical theatre for children to a new level. How many square feet can you help us buy with your tax-deductible donation? We don’t want the curtain to go down on this opportunity. By working together we can “set the stage for tomorrow.”
